Cohort Name Bristol Research into Alzheimer's and Care for the Elderly
Cohort Acronym BRACE
Study Overview The Bristol Research into Alzheimer's and Care for the Elderly (BRACE) database is a record of clinical activity between 1994 and 2006 in the Memory Disorders Clinic. The clinic had an emphasis on developing psychological assessments which reflected the spectrum of change in cognitive ability over several visits as well as acquiring a comprehensive medical, social and family history of the patient, full clinical examination, blood tests and CT/MRI imaging, all contributing to rigorous diagnostic standards. The clinic was a major contributor to the movement towards today's recognition of the need to prioritise the relief of one of the major scourges of later life. The database closed with the closure of the Memory Clinic in 2006.
